Overview

This project was part of a Virtual Internship program with RevoU X WeRent, designed to provide hands-on experience in software development. The objective was to develop a platform enabling users to rent high-quality clothing for both special occasions and everyday wear, promoting accessibility and sustainability in fashion.

The fashion industry contributes significantly to environmental pollution, with fast fashion fueling waste and overconsumption. Recognizing the need for a more sustainable solution, WeRent was conceived to redefine how people access and use fashion. By creating a platform for clothing rental, WeRent encourages a circular economy, making it easy for individuals to rent high-quality garments for special occasions or everyday wear. The goal was to provide an affordable, sustainable, and stylish alternative to traditional fashion consumption.

Project Goals:

  • Promote Sustainable Fashion Practices
  • Increase Accessibility to High-Quality Fashion
  • Build a Community of Eco-Conscious Consumers

Method/Strategy/Solution

Market Research

Conducted surveys and interviews to understand consumer behavior, pricing expectations, and target demographics. Focused on urban millennials and environmentally conscious shoppers.

Platform Development

WeRent was developed using a user-centered approach, starting with market research to understand target users’ needs. The platform features a clean, intuitive interface, secure payment systems, inventory management, and logistics integration. Built using modern, scalable technologies, the development process followed agile methods with regular testing and feedback to ensure reliability, seamless usability, and alignment with sustainability goals.

Detailed Review Section

The Detailed Review Section is a core feature of WeRent, designed to empower users by providing transparency and trust. Before renting an item, users can explore comprehensive feedback from previous renters, ensuring they make informed decisions about the garment’s quality, fit, and overall condition.

  • User Ratings
  • Each garment is rated on a 5-star scale for key aspects like quality, fit, and cleanliness.

  • Written Reviews
  • Renters can share detailed feedback, such as how the item matched its description, how it fit compared to typical sizing, and overall satisfaction.

  • Photo Reviews
  • Users can upload photos of themselves wearing the rented garments, showcasing how the items look in real-life scenarios.

  • Filter and Sort Options
  • Users can filter and sort reviews based on various criteria, such as newest reviews, reviews with media, and overall rating.

  • Verified Rentals Only
  • Reviews are exclusively submitted by users who have rented the item, ensuring authenticity and credibility.

Impact: Enhanced trust in garment quality and platform reliability encourages repeat rentals, boosting long-term user loyalty and revenue growth.

    Tech Stack Used in WeRent

    • TypeScript Logo

      TypeScript

TypeScript enhances JavaScript by adding static types, making the code more reliable and maintainable. In LocalBites, I used TypeScript for the frontend, ensuring type safety and reducing errors during development.

    • Flask Logo

      Flask

Flask is a lightweight Python web framework that I used to build the backend of LocalBites. It allowed me to create a robust API to handle user authentication, order management, and product browsing while being simple and flexible for rapid development.

    • Next.js Logo

      Next.js

Next.js, built on top of React, is used for server-side rendering and static site generation. For LocalBites, Next.js helped with SEO optimization and provided efficient page load times, contributing to an overall better user experience.

    • MySQL Logo

      MySQL

MySQL is an open-source relational database management system that I used to store and manage data for LocalBites. It provided a structured and efficient way to organize user information, product details, and order history.
